Essay #3 Draft #1

How It is Deplorable to Have a Bad Doctor
It is important to have a good doctor because your life is in his hands. That’s why it is also necessary for all doctors to be patient and passionate about their job. But in reality, we observe some of them doing their job very badly. Some doctors are better than others. They do the same job, but they have some differences. Good doctors are friendly and they are good listeners. They must also be competent. It doesn’t matter who you are, they are always ready to see all the patients and take care of them.
Good doctor is the one who is very friendly. For example, I have my experience with my doctor in the United States who is always ready to see me. He takes time with me when I go to his appointment. He tells me all the time to call him anytime when I have health problems. I think he likes his job, and he is a good listener because he doesn’t press me when I explain my illness. He asks me a lot of questions and details to determine what I have. Therefore, people like to see him. I noticed that when I went to my first appointment. All the time, I went for my appointment I saw many patients who came to ask an appointment with him because they wanted to be treat by him. Also he confirms that he works a lot because he has many patients but he’s happy to take care of them. One day, I told him I am lucky to get him as a doctor because nobody wanted to be treat by a doctor who is not really interested.
Even though doctors learn the same things, they don’t have the same best quality. Some of them are impatients, they don’t want to take their time to make a deep examination on what you say or you have. Sometimes some doctors become doctors because they need money to survive, they don’t really like their job and they are not passionate with it.
Others are irresponsible. They don’t care about the patient’s life. For example, it is happened in my country two years ago, a pregnant woman came to the hospital at night time with her husband and other women. She had some contractions. When she got into the delivery room, the doctor in charge to make the baby’s delivery told her it was not time yet, and she had to wait. The doctor was a woman, too. The other persons were not allowed to enter into the delivery room. The doctor returned to her office, and she sat down comfortably and watched a movie on the television. She left the pregnant woman alone and she spent her time in front of television. The woman got complications, and she died. That day, the husband was very upset and he organized with his family a protest in this maternity before the policemen came. That doctor is now in jail because the husband brought her to the court.
There are some doctors who are incompetents, too. In my country, an experience with my cousin’s wife who was pregnant five years ago showed me how the doctors could make big errors. For example, the gynecologic doctor made the x ray to determine the sex of the baby. He told her it was a boy and she prepared everything as a boy, like the clothes, the shower materials in blue color, but finally-she got a girl.
Both examples show us  how a bad doctor can kill you. That means if you don’t have to fall in bad doctor hands anywhere in the world, you can’t be unhealthy or lost your life. We know nobody can be perfect all the time and we make every time some mistakes, but the doctors have to think about what role they play in the life, and they must take care of all patients seriously.

A broken summer in the snow

Snowflakes are striking to the running train's window. It is pretty cold outside. Although heater is on inside of the car, all the passengers are still look like freezing.                  Even though I am wearing a northface, the cold goes into me. I can't feel anything like a frozen heart inside. When I look outside of the train, the scene is misty by snow. Nothing is clear.
                   The train stops at
a station, some people take off and some take in. At the moment of the train starts moving, I see a couple on the platform. They are looking at each other and laughing heartily. Such as a prejudice, she is suddenly appeared in my mind though I know that there is nothing to be related.
She was in the train, in this New York city at that time. We were together in a New York summer. Nostalgia brings me back to the past, makes my heart warm and drives out the cold.
Differently, at that time the sun produced the intense heat as thrice or forth as today. Almost all the people on the train were in shorts and blouses. A lady wore nearly two pieces. We made a whisper about her and laughed secretly, but us too, wore shorts and T-shirts.
It was still early about 8:00 A.M, we headed to join the free ticket line for Shakespeare in the park. Shakespeare in the park was one of the most famous activity of New York summer. It was since 50 years ago, held at the Delacorte Theater in Central Park. To attend the performance, everyone had to get the ticket on that day of the performance. Although tickets were distributed at 1:00 P.M, people had started to line at 6:00 A.M. It was a real great show of New York, every show was attended by 1500 people at least, and it totaled over 4 millions since 1954.
When we arrived, the line was nearly a mile long, some people had been sitting on the folding chair, some had been sitting on the mat, almost everyone had snack boxes and water bottles. Some wore hats, some used umbrella to cover the sun. We stood behind a fleshy woman. She fluttered her fun continuously, sweat were rolling down on her face and neck ceaselessly.
Little Snow winked me and approached to the woman and closer to get the air form her. I pretended acting to appeal Ms. Fleshy, Little Snow bit her lower lip and showed her small fist to me. When she was always biting her lower lip, her protrude upper lip was more lovely. We laughed by looking at each other and kissed. As for a Burmese couple, kissing in front of the people was very strange at first, but we imitated quickly. As a Chinese Burmese girl, her narrow eyes are always narrower whenever she is laughing.
Why do you like me? I'm not beautiful,” she said. She always used to say whenever we're together alone.
You are wrong, I don't like you, I only love you, love makes me your everything is beautiful.”
Also, I always replied whenever she said like that. I knew that she asked me like that because she wanted to hear my words that I love her. Thus, I always used to say for her joy.
After having two hot dogs, a giant popcorn, two large cokes and two strawberry and chocolate ice creams, the tickets were distributed at 1:00 P.M. The entire day of the summer in the Central Park, we had gotten a chance to live with the great smell of the summer scent of the trees (even crowd couldn't disturb it), the sounds of the squirrels and singing birds.
            During the waiting time,
some of men and ladies interrupted to join their group. Therefore, the people behind them were very angry and shouted. They replied that they were together and some of them were latecomers, but people couldn't accept it. Some staffs and security guards arrived and settled the situation. The group argued for their desire to watch together. As a result,  authorities asked them to line up at the end again together. If you want to watch the show together with a group, come and line together for fair the people behind you.
The show would be started at 8:00
P.M, and the theater doors would be opened at 7:30 P.M. A lot of time we still had, but we didn't want to go back to Brooklyn. Therefore, we decided to wander around in Manhattan.
Times
Square was crowded, shiny and hot as usual as all the times. We made window shopping in the Macy, JC penny, Forever 21 and almost all the stores we'd seen.

Little Snow changed so many dresses and modeled me, but we wouldn't buy any. Even though we liked, we couldn't. We used so much money for the air tickets. There were only five vacation days she got, she flied from San Francisco to New York. The cost of the round trip tickets were heavy burden for us. But we couldn't help to stop our desire to see each other, so we'd decided to use that money.

Approach to 7:30 P.M, we prepared to go back to Central Park, but suddenly, a summer rain fell heavily. The show was canceled. We had no chance to watch the show in that summer because Little Snow had to go back on next day.
I still keep those tickets, even though I knew that those are useless and non-exchangeable, but you know those can remind me that I had ever had a gold of summer.”
She
texted me when she was in the West Coast back.
“Oh, honey, you can have, you can have next many
many gold of summer, I promise.”
“Oh, who can say, you can leave me any time, I know myself I'm not beautiful.”
How
could I tell her how I was sad and felt pity for her, and I promised myself that I would never left her. I did my promise firmly. But . . . but she left me in the last summer.
“Where are you?”
“Who is with you?
She always would use to text in every hour
of every day as like a pity jealous girl, but she couldn't do anymore since last June.
“I've already bought the tickets to come to you, darling.
I was thrifty the whole year for that. In this summer, we should go to the Shakespeare at first.”
That was the last texts she sent me. After a few minutes se
nding those texts, the car that she'd taken as the carpool passenger rolled over on the freeway. The driver was safe but she and another passenger sat behind were dead on the spot by the crash of a following truck. I couldn't go to her funeral, and I wouldn't like too. Because she is still alive in my heart.
The train stops. I take off the train. Absentmindedly
, I take off at the 77th station and headed to the Central Park. The snow is still falling heavily.
“I've never seen snow in my life.”
I am hearing her voice. Yes, we have no snow in our
own country and also in California she lived.
“I also want to visit to the Central Park in winter, I want to see how it
's beautiful in the snow.”
I enter to the park, everything is covered by snow. But I see the sun, crowd and I can smell the scent of summer, hear the sounds of singing birds and squirrels,
and I see a pair of the prettiest narrow eyes and a protrude lip. “Where are you?”
“Who
is with you?”
I send the texts to her despite knowing no
one no longer use that number. Nothing reply. A teardrop is rolling down on my cheek. Who can say it is a winter if someone see a summer in the snow with his heart?

Sunlight of the winter

The hopeless is vanishing and the bright light is coming. While I was writing my diary, the wind cold blew my face it is good. I never leave this city even though objects my desire. Philadelphia has been continued too change in the better way. I think everyone will breathe clearly in the fresh air again. I noticed some one began open the door and window to find the refreshment in the morning. Some people who detained themselves in house come out for walking in the street. The business began to run. For example, the shop show the sing to open, and ship sailed to sell the food to hungry city .Even the government is preparing to announce that stagecoach con be service in early November. Many doctor predicted that the epidemic will cease when the winter return.

My neighbors just came back from Maryland. He and his family left the city since he known that someone die in August. We talk to each other for a while and told me that he is confident the fever will end because he agreed with Dr. Rus. He follows any information about Dr.Rush’s cure. He is so great to come back to his home. In this moment, I feel seem like I am getting a new life it beyond happiness. Meanwhile, I felt absolutely sad because I could not save my family until this time. This is a numerous defeat in my life.

Many people died because of the yellow fever epidemic. It is hard to exactly know that how many people died in during time had the fever. Because, the officer of government who had responsibility to record they fled the city and someone had sickness. In my opinion, I thought that more than thousand took spirits to the fever. I hope the situation will get to normal recently.

                                                My Ignorant  Teenager

people always say Teenager is crazy and dangerous age. I think that is very truth because i was one of the crazy and dangerous teenage girls.
I remember when i was a teenage girl. I was doing so many crazy and nonsense things. And one of the crazy thing is i was thinking to to escape from my family when I was about thirteen or fourteen year- old. I wanted to escape from my family because I thought that my parents they did not love me. They were always very strict and hard on me. I also thought that they loved and  care for my sisters and my brother more than me. I had to do the chores in the house and if my brother or sisters had an argue I was the one was blamed first. My parents blamed and scolded me for everything I did.
Another crazy thing is I almost about to quit my school. One day I went home from school I saw my father was sitting on the sofa, and drinking his favored tea. I walked to him and stood in front of him. I said, "Father I want to quit school." He was surprised, but did not get mad. He asked me calmly, " Why do you want to quit school?" I told him because all of my classmates were wearing high- heel shoes to school except me. He stood up and said, "You are a ignorant girl. You wanting to quit school because you do not have high- heel shoes to wear to school." Then he told me that he was walking hundreds miles to school. He couldn't even have a old bicycle to ride, and sometimes he went to school with out breakfast, but he had never thought about to quit school.
I understood what he trying to tell me, however I did not want to accept that. So the next day instead of going to school, I went to the field. I played at the field till the afternoon, then went home. I did that for three days.My parents did noticed that I wasn't at school. They believed that i was in school for the whole mornings. Then finally, my grandmother who found out that I was at the field instead of school. She asked me why I did not go to school. I told her that I want to have high- heels to wear to school, but my parents didn't want to buy for me. So she bough me a pair of high- heel shoes.
Now I am a growing up woman, every time I think about my teenager. I can't believe that I was so ignorant and immature. It took me almost teen years to understand that my parents were strict and hard on me because they love me so much, and they wanted to train me to be a strong and independent person.
Now I am a mother of two kids and my daughter will be a teenage girl soon. I am so afraid that she will do the similar things that I did before. Being a mother makes me more understand about my parents love. I have realized on one in this world love me and care for me like my parents do." My parents ere the only ones, who always be there for me all goods and bad. They love me and do things for me with out expect the return. Their love for me is unconditional. I appreciate all the things they did and do for me. I Love My Parents.

Technological Tools

Years ago, people used to write letters, sometimes with horrible grammatical mistakes, that could take a long time to be read by the receiver. People invented and wrote new words that probably no one knew because there were no enough accessible dictionaries to find out a meaning of those new words. A long time ago, families had to travel by horses, camels, donkeys and ships- for days if they wanted to see their loved ones. Meanwhile, nowadays we just have to own a computer, or even better a smart phone, to do all those things that used to waste people’s time and money.
I am a 21-year-old guy who is learning English as a second language. In my long way to learn, I have the technology as one of my best allies. My phone helps me to learn with applications. For example, Google Translate is an awesome application invented by Google Inc. to help people around the world who want to learn a language different from their native one. This application teaches me how to write (giving me synonyms, adverbs, nouns and verbs from a single word) and pronounce a Spanish word or phrases in English.
Another application that I like to keep in my phone is The Free Dictionary.com, an American online dictionary and encyclopedia that gathers information from a variety of sources. This one gives me exactly the meaning of those words that I don’t know. For example, about a month ago, teacher Heidi told me to read chapter three of a book called An American Plague. That day I went home, and while I was reading, many words interrupted my reading, words that I didn’t know such as “miffed’ and “merely”. I touched my iPhone’s screen and looked for The Free Dictionary.com’s app, and bingo!!... I found the meaning of those words, so I continued reading, understanding completely the sense of the story.
The computer is another technological tool used by me to learn. This device helps me to type my essays in Microsoft Word. Microsoft Word corrects my writing, underlining words when I am wrong with their spelling or punctuation. This kind of system has helped also type this piece of writing. For example, I wrote many times “writting”, which is incorrect for its spelling, and Word corrected it automatically; that’s wonderful. The computer is also an aid when I have to post my homework on Blogger. This is a blog-publishing service that allows private or multi-user blogs with time-stamped entries, but in my case it helps to share my essays with my class so they can read it.

Definitely, technology can help us to improve and look forward. Thanks to all this technological progress, we are her, we can find cures for so many diseases and we are as smart as we want to be. For someone like me, it will help me a lot, and I will try to just use its benefits to become smarter every day.

My teenage vs. my adult self
This is a really good topic to bring back my teenage, and compare to my adult life that I live now day. I remember that when I was teenager, I used I used to complain for everything, but now I’m more serious, and reasonable. I remember once that my dad order me to go to the field to get the cows home. I was so angry because I was watching the thunder cats, my favorite cartoon.
A lot of things happen when we are teenager. Wow like it was yesterday, whereas I use to like to watch cartoons as a teenager, now I prefer to watch movies, news or other important programs. While I now enjoy watching news, I used to hate it as a teenager.
Being a teenager is a completely dramatic story for some of us, most of the time we aren’t agree with anybody specially our parents, but at the same time, as a teenager, I used to receive everything from my parents. In contrast, now I buy my own things, and I help them out.

Through I was growing up, my mind and my body was having changes. There is a moment that, my teenager is converted in a mature and reasonable person. Unlike my teenager self, I’m now quite, hard worker and selfless. I work for my parents and brothers. I’m an adult, and I will always be there when they need me.

Fernando Gonzalez "My Experince Playing Xbox Online" My Best Piece of Writing.

Before i moved to de US, i had never played xbox online. I had heard about it and i had seen commercials on tv. Despite all those Advertisements, i had never had the opportunity to play xbox online because the internet was so expensive at that time in Mexico.

In contrast, in the US, the internet is so popular and necesary for the people who live there. When i moved to the US, i was able to pay for the internet and i bought a laptop and an xbox 360.

As soon is i got my xbox, i connected it to the internet and i started a great adventure by playing xbox online. Is unbeliavable how many people are connected to the internet to play xbox online. There you can play and chat with people from different countries worldwide.

That's so magic and amazing to have such a great experience when you are conected to the internet. There is nothing you can not do. Now i see that there is nothing imposible in this life.

The Evolution of Education Thanks to the Internet

When I was at school, I used to spend long hours in the library. They used to have big encyclopedias with all types of information. I studied each subject from real books. Sometime we needed to look at more than one book to find out what we needed to know. It was normal to take books from the library for a couple of days to study. We also used to take books just to have something to read. The progress in technology is so big that the method of education is completely different today than when I was at school.

Today education goes together with technology. Teachers use smart-boards in classrooms. Students read books in tablets or even in cell phones. Part of the homework couth is completed on-line. The communication between teachers and parents is, in most cases, through e-mail. Most, if not all schools have their own website where we can access all kinds of information, from the homework for the next day to events to come.

Recently, my daughter had to do some research about vertebrates and invertebrates for school. He needed to look for four different species of each one. She needed to find out what were the differences and similarities between them. She also needed pictures of each one. She used Google to do her investigation. She copied all the information and pictures of each species from the website to Word. It took her about four hours to do all this investigation, put everything together and print it.

In contrast, if I’d had to do this project as a child, I would have had to look in many books and encyclopedias. I would have had to write all the information in my notebook and then I would have had to organize each one with the most important aspect. I would have had to draw and color each picture. I would have had to write the similarities and differences in another sheet. I would have had go to the library multiple times, and spend many hours to complete this project.

The progress in technology is a great change in everyday life. The scopes are tremendous and it doesn’t look like it’s going to stop any time soon. We can access all kinds of information from our home in a very short time with the internet. Our children spend less time searching for specific topics and more time studying.  We have access to almost everything with just a click.

Essay 3 # Draft 1

Are you happy, Darling?

Most people believe that the better person in his or her field depends on his or her skill, experience, knowledge and certifications, but in reality, we need sympathy, ethic and responsibility more than those.

Whenever I heard the cheerful conversations about the highly educated physicians who have stuck with the urban since their graduation, it reminds me the young doctor couple. The boy's name is Min, and the girl's is Lin. Even though this is a comparison between the good and bad doctors, let me begin my essay with their love story. They started their relationship since the earliest semesters of their Medical College. Both of them were very good-looking, smart and ambitious. They were a very famous couple in their college at that time, like king and queen of the campus. Also, because of hardworking and good results in every semester, every Professor loved them. Eventually, when they reached their last semesters of the Institute, they had to take the field trip to the degree. Our real story started in there.

Poor, Poor, Poor! They found poverty everywhere beyond the cities. Even though they were also not rich, the living standards between country and urban were very different. Like a Disease Show, the various kinds of diseases they found, most of them were caused by the lack of Vitamins, lack of purified water, and lack of knowledge. Poverty produced many kinds of diseases among those people. The most of the people were poor peasants. They were very innocent, happy in their lives, although it was like a hell in the young doctors' eyes. They warmly welcomed the young medical students and doctors, and hosted as possible as they could.
By seeing those situations, the sympathy, kindness and responsibility were growing on in Min's heart. All the snacks he brought to save for a whole trip were gone in a day with the children. After snacks, all the children followed him all the time. He washed all of them by using his soap, cut their fingernails and fed them the nutritious food everyday by using his pocket money. They walked together through the village. Children always run after him, sometime when the youngest one cried out because he couldn't walk to reach all, he picked him up and lay on his shoulder and carried on. All the students gave Min a nickname, “Big Daddy”.

In contrast, Lin was very upset on the situation, everyone, everywhere and everything was dirty. If she had a chance, she wanted to leave there as soon as she could, but it was for the exam's sake, she swallowed her desire. She never ate anything from the village, survived with the Ramens. She hated herself till swearing for her choice to become a doctor. Even though they were in different groups and took the duties in the different parts of the village, she heard about Min and amazed for that. Also, Min knew all of her events by the friends, but they didn't say anything about that.

After the trip, they returned to the school and continued to finish their graduation. As usual, both of them did well. After graduation, Min decided to return to the village as a regional doctor. Unlike Min, Lin determined to get a chance to stick with the cities. She knew that being a Physician was the only way for it. Thus, she tried to get a chance to achieve a scholarship to study abroad by the government. As a third country, the government couldn't send many scholarship students to abroad in every year. They selected a few of them from the thousands of applications. There was no hope to get that chance as a junior doctor despite the highly rank official's children and bribers. Lin got the scholarship by passing hundreds of seniors though she was not rich to bribe, and also not a kid of the highly rank official, but because of her beauty, mentioned by the military officer, the head of the Scholarship Selection Committee. Everyone criticized her except Min. Some people retold all the things to him stupidly. Some asked him that they were broken up. He smiled bitterly and replied that there was nothing between them, nothing, separation too.

The story didn't end there. A few years later, Lin returned to her country as a physician, and served in the health department. She could stick with the city as she wanted despite a few regular health inspection trips in her responsible area. Min was a very well-known doctor around his region, everyone loved him. Although he gave up further study, some friends sent him the latest medical newsletters. He was poor, sometime people paid him with a branch of banana, but he was happy for it. Unfortunately, Lin became the head doctor of the health office of that region. One day, she had to go to the Min's village. When her car had arrived in the village, she asked a villager where the village doctor was. A villager pointed out her to a crowd. A bullock cart which a person looked like a patient lying on it sunk in the mud, and people pushed it to escape. Among the people, their beloved doctor who wore the same clothes like all was also pushing together. When he saw her, he waved his hand, just smiled, and continued to push instead of running toward her.

At that moment, even though she was a higher rank official above him, even though she got higher education, and more worldwide experience than him, she felt lost. The happiest smile of that peasant-dressed doctor reminded what she’d lost.

Smart Google

Have you ever heard the word “Google?” In the present, when you would like to seek new information, you can find it from the internet. Many people who love to surf the internet. It is the website for searching information on the internet. I would like to explain to you why Google has benefited my learning?

First of all, Google is equipment to helping my education a lot. Google is divided three categories by as follow: Google Web Search Features (Search Engines), Google service and
Google Tools. Those service I always use the Book Search that it help me find my favorite book. Alerts are service that reminds me to new information via e-mail. This program is very useful because I got importance assignment immediately from teacher. The translation it helps me make sure correct the words or sentences.

However, when you find information should consider key word. If you have an affective key word you will get answer faster. In my opinion, Google Suggest will help more convenience in finding the target. This program is function to suggest “key word” which relate to information you are searching. For example, when I was studying in undergraduate I got overload assignments. I had to read numerous books and find some more information form library. Therefore, I used “key word” for getting the importance website and it could save my time a lot.

Google is very amazing and smart. Google can eliminate the obstacle of my education because I can analyze and apply the answer that you get from Google. If you can use Google in the smart way and adjust it, you will succeed in education.

Modern Magic
Technology is a big part of our daily life now, but it also comes with many problems. For example, many kids are barely go out and play with friends now, because almost every game we had played in outdoor with our friends, they can play with the computer or Apple products. Also, many people get back pain problem because they spend too much time with technology produce. However, despite those bad effects, I still think it is very helpful. In my personal situation, it makes my job much easier, and it makes the cost of communication with my parents who live in China easier, more flexible and cheaper.
I am a buyer. My job position is looking at and recording new fashions and their prices in the market. After that, I have to organize all of the information I get and then show them to my clients. Also, I help my client to pick and buy their clothes. Since most of my clients live in China, the computers, digital cameras, and smartphones are very important to me. Only working with them could make me able to give timely information and personal responses to my clients. In contrast, I can imagine that if there is no technology like we have today, I wouldn’t be able to make this job work. The fashion market is changing very fast, either styles or prices. I believe if I could only use the post mail like we used in the past to contact client who live far away, if I could only use the original film cameras to take pictures and wait for the film to develop, then I wonder that when they got the information and prices, most of them would have changed or expired.

The other reason why I think current technology is a good thing in my life is the cost of communication. I still remember many years ago, the international calls were so expensive. For example, if I wanted to talk with my parents of an hour, it would cost 20 dollars, but now it is different. With a smartphone and the internet, I can talk with them as long as I want. In addition, it’s no limit and totally free! Furthermore, there are so many different ways to do it, like Facetime, QQ (a Chinese APP), Skype, and many others. The most amazing part of these tools is they are all go with images, people can talk face to face, and it makes each other’s distance magically shorter.
Therefore, even people have different experiences and opinions of the technology, I always think it has many more advantages than bad effects. For me, it likes the magic, make many impossible things in the past becoming possible now.

It’s the Way How we Use it
“Darling, go do your homework!” my mom called.
“Just a minute.” While I answered my mother I was still watching a television drama.
“Go back to do your homework. Now!” A few minutes after, my mother came and made me turn off my computer. Then I walked back to my study slowly and reluctantly.
I don’t remember how many times this kind of situation has happened when I was a high school student. I used to spend a lot of time on the Internet; watching dramas or movies, chatting with friends, browsing some websites or forums, but neither of them had anything to do with my study. I missed a lot of schoolwork and didn’t do my homework well. Usually I didn’t pay attention in classes. I cared about nothing but using the computer. Naturally, I didn’t get a high score. Instead, my academic performance was totally awful.
Like many other students, I like to use the computer and it did help me a lot. I can get almost everything I needed on the Internet, such as books, movies, music, food, clothes, daily necessities, and even many different types of services. It is very convenient to search for information online. The only thing I needed to do was type what I needed and Google it. Gradually, it felt like it was too easy to get something I wanted, I didn’t feel I valued or appreciated that. Also, I usually didn’t really remember that information I found later. Because it was easy, I guess my brain just didn’t have deep impression of them. The most terrible part was I getting lazy about things. I didn’t even want to think things myself. I totally relied on technology and had a very strong dependence. For example, I always needed to use online apps to do something. When I had some new words that I didn’t know about, instead of used a paper dictionary I always used the Google translation to translate words. That made me have a really poor vocabulary knowledge, because I didn’t actually try to learn them.
As an addict internet, I remember there was once I had a summer break. I got a two- month break time and some homework to do. I spent a lot and a lot of time to watch some television dramas, which were so attractive that I couldn’t help not finishing them. Also, I chatted in internet with my friends and classmates. I watched movies and browed some websites and forums. During the time, I didn’t sleep early, indeed, I went bed very late. Therefore, I woke up late, like noon or sometimes after that. I didn’t start doing my homework until the last second days of my break. I didn’t do my writings and other homework well; it was totally rushed. Even though my teacher didn’t seem to find out, my family members did. My parents noticed I was playing on the Internet, and that I wasn’t doing homework. They banned my right to use TV and internet at home. To keep me away from it they locked the room where my computer was, so I wasn’t able to get in.
Despite the ban and the barrier, I was still trying to use the computer sneakily. I went to my parents’ bedroom and found the backup key then stole it. Since I had my own room, and the computer was in different one. I sneaked out to my study after my parents went to sleep. At first, I was excited that I could still use the Internet, but soon I felt tired about sneaking around; worrying that my parents could find out. When I heard any sounds came from my parent’s bedroom, I was frozen and my heart stopped. It felt like a thief who tried not to make a sound when he was stealing things from people and he still needed to protect his own belongings in the same time.
As a result of using the computer in the middle of the night, I didn’t sleep enough. I only could use the computer after I made for sure my parents were asleep, so that meant I usually used it at midnight or after that. Due to my school schedule, I only had 5-6 hours for sleeping. I couldn’t concentrate and I always felt sleepy and listless in class. Unfortunately, my school work was getting tougher, and that was making me get exhausted. In the end of that semester I got a really lower score than usual of my final exam. I realized that I couldn’t stand this situation any more. Eventually, I quit it. I decided to tell my family that secret activity I was doing behind them. We had an agreement, and they helped me to change this bad habit. In fact, I changed the way I use it. Instead of playing games or watching soap operas, I used internet to read some news and learn some skills.
From all of those effects I have got by using the Internet; it does not mean technology has only disadvantages. Despite the distractions, the problem isn’t technology itself. As people know, technology could really make life easier. It could help people get information and learn knowledge which used to be hard to get. The point is the way how we use it. If we use it wisely, it can benefit us; if not, it also can cause bad effects.
