Technology Necessary Thing in our Life

Technology is important in our life because it connects many countries together.

A few years ago, people in many countries in the world were not able to use a different kind of technology such as mobile phones, computers.

Nowadays, the number of computer’s users is increasing. Many people know how to use computers, mobile phones. Those are indispensable in the education.

Technology has some benefits in the education. We can notify that computer reduce the distance. For example, stay home and get a degree. We don’t need to be in the campus physically to get some courses. It helps people quickly and makes easy the researches. We can check in the computer, with one click and can get whatever you want to know. Also, with computer we can communicate although the networks like Facebook, Twitter, and get exchange news and ideas.

Everyone try to get a mobile phone because it is necessary. We can speak each other around the world. It's doesn’t matter what color, religion, you are before you a get a phone. It helps to join anybody emergently

Even though the computer or phone take a significant place in our life, we can’t ignore those have some disadvantages. Using a computer or a mobile phone becomes very important because we need it. Sometimes we like to use anywhere and anytime, that can cause some problem. For example, people who drive want to use the mobile phone when they drive, and this can cause an accident.

With a computer we watch much kind of movies. For example, Children learn bad things and sometimes try to practice. For example, people like to use guns in reality to see how its look like that’s why we can observe the young children use it.

I think technology is good for development because with it we can share different knowledge and advertise people in the world.

In conclusion, there are some changes in the life with the development of technology and we can’t imagine the world without computer even though it makes lazy people to do everything by mind.

Essay #2 the Technology

How the Internet Affect my Daily Life making Friends

The technology, has affected my social life because I became lazy in interacting with people. There are many social programs in the internet such as Facebook, twitter, hot mail and others. I have a lot of options to find friends online through these programs above mentioned.
Since I came to this country, I became less friendly with people in my daily life. No because I don’t want to, I don’t have enough time to socialize like making friends around my neighborhood. I’m so busy, working and when I got home the only thing that I want to do is sleep. For me is easy to go online, open an account on Facebook or whatever social page, and find friends.
The excessive use of this program had affected in a huge part my personality. Because I have no friends who count with and  some time I feel depressed,   because I can’t share my ideas, happiness, sadness with” X” person.  Although in the internet, are a lot of thing to see, I’m sure that I will never find a really good friend. That’s right, I decide to try to use less this site (Facebook).
I was thinking that when I sit down in front of my computer, the time flies, and after long hours I just noticed that I had wasted my time. Now, I decide to go out my home when I have my little free time and become a better social person. I started to do things like for example, go to parks, play soccer, ride bicycle, visit museums etc. in that way I have to talk with real people,  and also it will be more healthy for me, especially  because  I will practice sport.

Essay #2
How to use Technology

The new generation believes in Technology. Since they become abducted to it as an example they prefer using the computer than the book. The parents are wondering, what will happen next? Therefore, they try to advise them about technology because the protection of your children is extremely more important than everything. As a result, Parents provide some debates with their children to analyze it deeply showing the negative and positive effect in our life style.

First of all, in my experience, I see a lot of people practice Facebook and twitter for every details.  Even though you have your own password, it   doesn’t say they cannot control you. I think one of the criteria is to put everybody under their power.  In addition, I know there is smart person who try to get some important information from your email. We expose our life without intention. Since I begin to use a computer my eyes hurt me more than before. For me it is more important using a book or paper before a computer. We are innocent as a lamb because life is a mere dream, a feeling shadow on a cloudy day.

In contrast, we use it for research and shopping. Consequently, some information are not correct that’s why some parents and teacher prefer the old fashion such as reading books and paper dictionary. My experience at BMCC shows me the result. For example, my teacher prefers we read the word, have a first impression, and talk about it. I realize it is better before I do my own research; I understand and remember it easily. I can consider the technology and the old fashion are like two peas in a pod.

As a result, we have to communicate in our family by making the technology in the correct place. Since it is working faster, our children will have the same behavior like it. As a parent, you can provide these effects for them, the plan must be a rock solid and so your aims.

Xixi Lin Essay#2

Technology is a big part of our daily life now, but it comes with many problems. The most common examples,  like many kids are barely go out and play with friends because almost every game we had been playing outdoor with our friends, they can play with the computer or Apple products now; and like many people get back pain problem is because they spend too much time with it.

However, despite those bad effects, I still think it is very helping. In my personal situation it make my job much easier and realizable.  it makes the cost of communication which with my parents who lives in China easier, more flexible and cheaper.

For example, I need to use it to finish a big part of my jobs and give timely response to my client. In contrast, I can image if there were no any computers and smart phones, I won't be able to make this job works, because most of my clients are living in China,  and I have to show them newest fashions in the market and notice them presently effective prices. The market and the prices are changed very fast.  If I don't use the technologies we had now, if I only could use the post mail like past, then when they got the informations and prices,  most of them were changed or expired.

The another reason, the cost of communication, I still remember many years ago, the international calls were so expensive,  like if I want to talk with my parents for half or an hour, it would cost a lot of money, but now it is being different. With an smartphone and internet, I could talk with them as longer as I want. Also, there is no limit, and it is totally free! And it have so many different way to do it, like FaceTime, QQ(a chinese APP),and Skype, and many other. The most advantege of it is  these tools are go with images, people can talk face to face, it makes each other's distance magically shorter.

In the end, I think just for these two reasons I believe the technology and its progress is a good and help things happened in our daily life.

                                                         Technological Helpers.

Imagine, you are on the subway platform. You see rats on the rails. You are hearing loud thunder of metal wheels. Trains, with different color circles and letters, are going to unknown you destination. You can't ask anybody, because you are alone on this station. Scared human being, your skin are covered by goose bumps, and... Eureka! I put my hand on a pocket of jeans and squeeze my smart phone. Technology! Thank God! We have technology in nowadays. I took my iphone and smiled. Small brown application “subway map” was looking at me through the smart phones screen and helped me found shortest way to my home.

We use technology every day, everywhere. For example, I use ‘‘Subway map’’ application every day in the subway. Despite the fact that I have live in New York fourteen months,  sometime I can be baffled with all these station and different numbers of train. Today, like usually, I used my phone in the morning to research which of the station on my way can offer me transfer for right train to my destination. My small helper “ Subway map” like always gave me right advice. As a result I came to my lovely lessons in the BMCC in time.

Sometime, when I think about  ancient people I feel sympathy about  haw they lived. No planes, no internet and smart phones. Theirs ability and resources were so limited. Only carriage with horses , and pigeons or postman, who delivered letters. Our ancestors needed ages for sending letters or communicate by distance. In 13th century famous Moroccan traveler Marco Polo spent 15 years, from 1276 to 1291, to reach Indonesia from Asia across Persia and China. But now it is doable in several hours by plane.

It seems easy to check a weather forecast in the morning and reply to emails the same time. You can calculate your road time to your destination on “Hop Stop” application and see your best friend in the Skype, in spite of the fact that she or he lives of another site of the globe. It is a typical morning for average human being, in nowadays.

I came to the U.S. 14 month ago, I am a new immigrant who lives in NYC, and I can say ,”I am real New Yorker”, and I can say. ”I can't imagine my life without technologies”.

The most useful gadget for me is iphone. I think all smart phones make our life more comfortable , interesting, safer, and more organized. I can't underline more important application or service, but I fully aware how I addictive from all application in my phone. This smart device is real helper in different sites of my life.

Sometime I realize how strongly I miss some people, who very dear to me, but between us a big distance. And how these amazing technologies, give us a possibility to communicate with each other and feel pleasant emotions. I am also happy that we have a Skype and Viber.

Now almost all people addictive, in good meaning of this word from internet and smart phones. I think it is very positive tendency, which improving our life and give us more possibilities for our health, work, emotions and communication.

Technology in Our Education

                                    Technology in Our Education

Technology today has made a huge impact on our lives and our education by increasing the speed of learning and by making the style of learning much better.  For me, technology made me see and realize bigger opportunities in life. For example, a computer with internet access basically has all the information you will need and it is one of the fastest ways to find research on any given topic. Also, it can really help me understand and answer any questions I have about a certain topic. Computers can also be used for entertainment and they can be educational at the same time. I believe that computers are very useful and are used in everyday life.

Another example of how technology has benefited my life would be the use of smartphones. Smartphones have helped me stay more organized and remember things better. They helped me always stay in touch which is important because you can call anywhere you like and it helps you communicate faster.

Finally, my last example would be my TV. Every evening I turn on the news. It helps me keep in touch with what is happening around the world and it keeps me educated. On my TV I can watch educational movies and documentaries that might help me with my education as well as computers. For some people it is easier to visually see things and that helps them understand it a little more deeply. For me, documentaries help me see how things really are instead of just reading from books.

However, technology has a few disadvantages.  The major disadvantage of technology is that the more advance and better the technology becomes, the more people start to depend to get all their information and researches from the computer. People have started to overused technology and have used it as sole source of learning. This caused that many people have had terrible handwriting; also people have lost mentally and physically interacting. In modern life we have loss of communication and socialization skills between students and teacher as well as between students. It happens more often that students can talk to someone around the world by texting or messaging, but not be able to get conversation with a student sitting next to him in classroom. Technology has definitely changed traditional methods of leaning, but cannot replace human factor in our education.

Heidi’s Class
It’s the Way How we Use it

“Darling, go to do your homework~!”  My mom called.  “Just a minute.”  While I answered my mother I was still watching the television drama.  “Go back to do your homework.  Now!” Few minutes after, my mother came and made me turned off my computer.  Then I walked back to my study slow and reluctantly.  I don’t remember how many times this kind of situation has happened when I was a high school student.  I used to spend a lot of time in internet.  Watching dramas or movies, chatting with friends, some of them I didn’t even know; browsing some websites or forums, but neither of them has anything to do with my study.  I missed a lot of schoolwork and didn’t do my homework well.  Usually I didn’t pay attention in classes.  I was cared about nothing but using computer.  Naturally, I didn’t get a high score.  Instead of it, my academic performance was totally awful.
As what I have done, many of students did or doing the same thing.  A survey report showed, 93% of students had used internet, 65.3% of students use it often, 15.3% of students really want to but restricted by conditions, and only 13.8% of students think it is indifferent.  There are 60% of those students have spend on internet between 8 to 20 hours every week and 12% of students have spent more than 35 hours.  Most of those students spend their time doing some amusements.  The most things they are usually doing are sending and getting emails, chit chat and browse some websites or forums.  Sending and getting emails accounts 76%, chit chat or making friends 65%, search information or reading news 62.5%, download music or software 48.5%, reading books 40.5% , watching movies 36.5%, browse some websites or forum 33%, play online or computer games 29% , others 27% , searching jobs 11.5%, shopping 8% and for training or educations are only 2.5%.  According to report, most of students didn’t use internet to do too much things about study.  On the country, using internet might have affected them.
I have read some news about the effect of internet to educations.  Mr. Lee, A sophomore college student had second place in his class before he addicted online games.  Since Lee had played, he spent time on internet from dusk to dawn.  Sometimes he could stayed weeks or month with his computer and never goes out.  His family and teachers in school had tried to persuade him, but he badly changed.  As a result of that, he missed lots of his courses and failed most of his classes.  Then he eventually has expelled from school.  The other effect of education is plagiarism.  In Germany, the phenomenon of students’ plagiarisms is getting serious.  A scholar of University of Leipzig had a survey.  The report showed that 90 percent of students would accept that plagiarize articles from internet in principle.  25 percent of respondents had admitted they have done that during their colleges.  That happened in high schools in Germany too.  There are 50 percents of college freshmen had done plagiarism more or less.  There are event some professional websites have services for students to do their homework.
In this rapidly developing era, digital and informational technology occupied a very important position.  Meanwhile it has changed our lives a lot.  People almost can get everything they need on internet, such as books, movies, music, food, clothes, daily necessities, and even many different types of services.  More and more people depend on their smart phones, computers and electronic products.  They got addicted with internet and cannot live without it.  Various and varieties of information have filled in internet.  Those became distractions.  There are so many sorts of novelty online games, a wide variety of websites, news or information, popular music and exciting movies.  All of them like a huge black hole draw you in to spend time and times to read or watch.  Then time flew by before you realized it.
In ancient, people used to search for material themselves, read a lot of books or asked other people questions to get those information they needed.  Now it is very convenient to search the information online.  The only thing you need to do is type what you need and google it.  But, if something is getting too easy to get, would you still value or appreciate that?  First, we will felt it is so easy to get things down.  You need to find some information---just google it.  We don’t even want to check books or dictionaries.  Second, we usually don’t really remember that information we found later, because it was easy, our brain won't have deep impression of them.  Last, we don’t think.  It is the most terrible part.  People sometimes event don’t know how to think or don’t want to.  They only want answers.  In this environment, people getting lazier, they totally rely on technology and have a very strong dependence.
Then does that mean the technology has only disadvantage?  Despite that distraction and affect technology possibly could be made, the problem isn’t technology itself.  As people know, technology could really make life easier.  It could help people get information and learn knowledge which used to be hard to get.  The point is the way how we use it.  If we use it wisely, it can really benefit us; if not, it also can cause bad effects.

Essay #2, Draft #1

Technology in our life

With the development of technology, there have been a lot of changes in our life. Admittedly, some of these changes are bad, causing many environmental and social problems. However, most of these changes contribute to making our life more convenient, more comfortable and more wonderful.

First of all, because of technology people can enjoy more convenience than ever. For example, it only takes travelers or businessmen several hours to go to other countries by  plane, which makes the world can communicate with significantly high speed and low cost. It is a  technology that has cleared away the barriers that once prevented people from leading a convenient life.

Secondly, technology has made our life as comfortable as we can imagine. Sitting in air-conditioned rooms, people do not have to suffer the extremely cold or hot weather any more. Whatever vegetable or fruit we want to ear, we can always find it in a supermarket without worrying about the season. We can also go to work in a place for away from our homes by using automobiles or public transportation tools.

In addition, technology provides us many choices to spend our spare time. Listening to music by using  CD, MP3, surfing the internet or watching movies, all of these entertainments make out life wonderful.  In conclusion, although technology has brought about some problems, such as air pollution caused by increasing automobiles, ethnic problems caused by cloning human beings, the benefits of technology for outweigh its bad influences. So, it is safe to say that technology has made the world a better place to live.

Essay #2
A Technological Society

Since the appearance of computers, evolution of all kinds of technological artifacts has been accelerated. Even though the rapid creation of new products makes some people uncomfortable, most people look forward to the new products on the market. As part of this evolution and its spreading along all sectors of society, it is also normal that technology had arrived in the educational system with the main objective of accelerating educational progress. However, there can be a polemic question around that: will computers influence positively or negatively the educational system?
Why do some people avoid the constant technological changes? It is completely true that technology has made life easier for all, but it tends to change constantly and very quickly. This can be an obstacle for many people, particularly the elderly. They tend to be conservative and it takes them longer, if at all, to adapt to those changes. The problem comes when they finally accept those changes in their routines and then there are already new ones. These people end up avoiding new things and the mounting explosion of technological development makes them unable to enjoy the changes.
Will technology influence students positively or negatively?  Definitely, technology has had a positive impact on the educational system. There are many studies about this issue that always support this idea. One of those studies is the one done by Judy Salpeter in 1999. Basically, she argued that the first way that technology can benefit students is that it can accelerate, enrich and deepen basic skills.
"Technology can be a great tool for motivating and engaging students. Brain research shows that if students are engaged, they learn more. If we're able to connect them to real life situations, they're much more interested...what a powerful motivation technology is and what a broad range of skills- scientific analysis, communication skills, problem-solving- are involved." (Salpeter, 1999). Using computers students are encouraged to write more and, actually, they can even write more words per minute. Another reason is that typing is easier than normal writing. Activities using Technology have the potential to allow all students to succeed.
"Today practicing mathematicians and scientists in many cases are not looking for single answers but rather a host of answers through the design of models and simulations...Let's prepare our students for their futures by exposing them to the latest field practices" (Salpeter, 1999). Inside schools technology can become a bridge between academics and emerging practices in professional fields. Encourage students since early ages to use the potential of technology on their learning by, for example, using the internet will help them become better professionals in the future. "Teachers are realizing that there's more information than they can possibly provide students. Instead they need to put tools into the hands of kids so they know how to ask questions, evaluate sources, hypothesize and communicate effectively" (Salpeter, 1999). Technology is a powerful tool to the teachers can enhance learning, increase productivity, and promote creativity of their students.
In conclusion, whether it is because of the exorbitant velocity of this technological development or its widespread presence in every sector of society, such as education, technology is getting stronger each year. We are sailing in a world where technology has become an essential factor in our lives. From computers to smart phones and tablets, nobody can imagine the current world without the active participation of technology.

3rd Draft of Essay #2

The More Unsafe Thing

In the 18th Century, when the first automobile was invented, some strong conservative old men were very angry to take or drive it. They thought that it was a serious sin by taking a moving thing without horses. Some of them cried for fear to take it when they were forced into it. Also, a few centuries earlier, people believed that an abyss was at the edge of the ocean. Therefore, no one dared to sail very far from the land.
Although those are very funny things today, those happened really. Sometime, people used to scare their own invention. Similarly, whenever I've heard that some of my American friends feel unsafe in their living style, some of them are too much worried about the disadvantages of modern technology, and they deterred their children to use the Internet at all.  I have nothing to argue against their concern. The only thing I would like to focus is that I just want to tell them; the dark is more unsafe.
I remember clearly the first time I watched a television was 1976 when I was 8 years old, at the 200th anniversary of American Independence ceremony held by the American Embassy in a public hall in front of our high school. At that time, there was no television and TV broadcasting station in Burma. That television of American Independence ceremony was the first television I had ever seen in my life, and then I had to wait for almost 10 years to watch my own television.
Since 1962, our country was under the military dictatorship of a so-called Socialist Government. They cut off us from the world. We got our television center in 1983. In the early years of the '80s, we had only a few TVs in our township, I remember that people were going to the township administration office to watch the news, sports and entertainment programs.
Despite a handful of people, such as the authorities and the rich, people were too difficult to own a television till nearly a decade later. Yet those a few televisions could bring the world-famous programs, such as little house on the Prairie, Rich man Poor man, Wise Guy, Starsky and Hutch, etc. However, in that way, we could see the differences between the world and the closed society we were living in.
After about 10 years, in 1988 the people in the whole country arose to protest against the dictatorship. Even though our revolution was the earliest uprising in the world against the leftism ruling at that time, it failed because of another military coup. And the new dictators announced that they were changing toward Democracy and the Marketing Economy System.
During those past 25 years under the military dictatorship so called the Government preparing for Democracy, they opened the market, but under control of a few people. About 1992, we could use our first mobile phones, but not for everyone.
If someone wanted to use a mobile phone or a cable phone, he or she would need to apply to the Department of the Ministry of Communication. The authorities who were the former military officers selected the person who should use from the thousands of the applicants. If someone was selected, he or she would have to meet that very tense authority in person and be examined by him, and then, he or she would need to pay about $ 1500(one thousand and five hundreds US dollar) for that permission not included the charge of sim card and also hand set. It was official payment, but the Ministry of Communication officially announced that it was just hiring, not sale. Any phone which the people hired by them could be rejected and withdrawn according to the reasonable situation, it meant that if they suspected that someone used his or her phone for the political activities or the government's banned information, they could banish it forever.
Believe it or not; In Burma, we used to pay over $ 3000 to $ 4500 (three thousands to four thousands and five hundreds US dollar) to get a mobile phone in the black market. Those exorbitant prices really occurred until 2010.
Even though we had got to use internet, the connection speed was too slow to use. We never could watch a video file on line, sometime we had to wait a whole day to download a picture. The dictators were very afraid of the people got a chance to connect to the outside world. Thus, they not only blocked the communication in that way but also declared a law so called an Electronic Act, that is, if someone used internet to download or upload deterrent information and documents against the government, he or she would be punished 20 years in prison. So many bloggers were arrested by that law. However, they are showing the some changes to the world today, the connection speed is still slow and also the Electronic Act is still alive today in Burma.
Although all the prices of the mobile phones in Burma today dropped off, people still cannot watch any YouTube movies, any video files broadcasting on line and sometimes cannot open any website.
In contrast, in United States, almost everywhere, every time, internet can be available very smoothly. I watch movies from Netflix, watch news from CNN, read articles from USA Today, make shopping Amazon, write on my Facebook and blog, and study on the education websites such as Coursera, edx, Udacity and Open Yale Courses. The world best professors are lecturing on those websites free for everyone. Those are really free to attend, that is, no background education needs. Whoever it is, he or she can attend if he or she is interested, even if it is the Games Theory.
As for me, I am studying the courses of the Modern World History lectured by Professor Philip Zelikow of the University of Virginia, Foundation of Business Strategy by Professor Micheal J. Lenox of the University of Virginia, and also the Justice by Professor Micheal Sandal of the University of Harvard. All are video lectures and sometimes they're used to make a direct conference with the thousands of students all over the world.
Anyone who owns a computer and an internet connection anywhere of the world can attend in those education programs. Indeed, it is really for anyone, except some remain behind the dark like Burmese people. When I had written about those things on my blog and Facebook, the young people in Burma were moaning for their loss.
In here, United States, almost everything I need is nearly completed by the Internet. And I also found a lot of porn websites and games. But how many times a person want to watch those things? Is it daily? Maybe like some of my American friends’ worry, even though those things are really threatening our children and living style unsafe, making downsides of education; I believe that it is safer than the dark. I can say that the dark is more unsafe.
Let me borrow some words from The Lexus and The Olive tree by Thomas Friedman, the technology is like the tomorrow rising sun, it will be growing on. We cannot run from it. Even though we can face the disadvantages, we have to solve and go on.  We have no choice, only things to get a better world is facing the problems, taking the advantages, and going on forward.
